Lord Martin Rees, an astronomer from the United Kingdom, assures that advanced e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ c̳i̳v̳i̳l̳i̳z̳a̳t̳i̳o̳n̳s̳ are probably no longer biological beings. On the contrary, he is sure that when humans colonize Mars in the future, they will become cyborgs within 1 or 2 generations.
In a hearing held at the Hay Festival, according to the British media The Telegraph, the astronomer stated that a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s should now be cyborgs.
“If we detect something, it is not likely to be flesh and blood. It is much more likely to be an electronic entity. It is unlikely to be in sync with us, it could be a million years ahead of us.”
Lord Rees also believes that communication with these entities would also be nearly impossible. They are light years away both from the development of a human-like life.
a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s would be cyborgs
However, the astronomer believes that in the near future, Mars will be colonized, with a vision very similar to that of Elon Musk.
However, when that happens, it will also result in an unwanted evolutionary process in humanity.
Martin Rees was rector of Trinity College, Cambridge and was also president of the Royal Society of London.
He assures that, at the end of the century, there will be small communities far from Earth. By then, genetic modification and cybernetic techniques will be much more advanced.
Those processes will be regulated on Earth, but Mars explorers will have every incentive to change. This will be to be able to adapt within and a generation or two. Becoming a different species, a mixture of flesh, blood and robot.
So one scenario for the next millennium could be that some of the descendants of early Martian explorers become cyborgs.
When we get to Mars…
As for this idea, other researchers and theorists warn that such Mars colonies, over time, will not only become independent of our species. They will be totally separated from the Earth and, possibly, the first interplanetary conflict will be created.
Despite all this, Rees made 2 final observations about the near future that most visionaries like Musk fail to take into account. Many are completely unaware that the Mars mass migration is nothing more than a rather dangerous “altered view” of reality.
For him, dealing with climate change is something much easier than the work of terraforming Mars.
Ultimately, Martin Rees concluded that space tourism should never be used, as it will never be risk free.
In fact, for him, it should be called “space adventure” and should be offered only to people who like high risks, such as those who prefer to do risky mountain climbing or parachute from great heights.
It is not the first time that an expert has given a vision about a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s as cyborgs. We have also heard how they assure that humanity, in the future, could have an unprecedented evolutionary change.
