SETI Director Says Aliens “Aren’t As We Think”

For decades, a typical image of a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s has been installed in our subconscious. However, the SETI project director assured that these may be different from what we think.
Seth Shostak, director of the Search Center for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, better known as SETI, claims that humans are less advanced than a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s. However, soon we will do what these entities did; create a race of “super-beings” that will become the dominant race on Earth.
A̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s different from what we imagine
Shostak, along with Susan Schneider, a professor of philosophy at the University of Connecticut, blogged for SETI:
“Some biologists have sided with Hollywood, and I contend that the process of convergent evolution is a design trend to fit the role, to ensure that a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s can vaguely resemble us.
Most likely, the most advanced e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ c̳i̳v̳i̳l̳i̳z̳a̳t̳i̳o̳n̳s̳ will be a special type of \’super-intelligence\’ with synthetic cognition that vastly exceeds the behavior of humans that they can manage in all categories such as: social skills, wisdom in general, scientific creativity and so on. on. about.
For Schneider, humans are expected to follow this pattern, creating super-beings in the form of Artificial Intelligence. This will be the “transformative event of the 21st century” or perhaps of any century in human history.
Shostak is convinced that the a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s have already gone through this transition, like the one humanity is in now.
For him, given the age of the universe, some of these a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ thinking machines could be millions, even billions of years older.
Some may have achieved superintelligence through biological enhancements to their bodies. But it is suspected that most did so by simply transitioning to silicon rather than remaining in carbon-based life forms.
Artificial intelligences across the universe
For the director of SETI, once the first form of AI is created, its evolution will be fast, as they are able to manufacture better and more advanced machines than humans .
This process develops so rapidly that it seems inevitable that most intelligences already in the universe are not AI.
Thus, SETI suspects that most a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ c̳i̳v̳i̳l̳i̳z̳a̳t̳i̳o̳n̳s̳ have already outgrown biological life forms. For them, they transferred information from their brains to a computer or gradually replaced it with silicon components.
Shostak believes that the ways of life that Hollywood presents are nothing more than projections of ourselves.
Real a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s can be so different from life forms as we know them, that we may not even be able to recognize one.
It\’s curious how, over the years, more and more experts claim that e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ life forms are more related to AI than organic life. But seeing the advancement of human technology is even understandable.
